INK studio is pleased to present the works of Zheng Chongbin at The Armory Show in March 2016 in New York, including a brand-new series of paintings and a brand-new version of his acclaimed environmental video installation, Chimeric Landscape (2015), previously seen at INK studio and the European Cultural Centre, Venice. This presentation comes at a particularly exciting moment for the artist, who has recently been recognized with acquisitions by such major international collections as the Daimler Art Collection, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and M+. A participant in the 2014 Armory Show, INK studio will return to the fair this year as the only China-based gallery.
Zheng Chongbin (b. Shanghai, 1961) has spent three decades systematically investigating the fundamental elements of the Chinese ink tradition and Western pictorial abstraction. He enacts the dynamic processes of nature in the interactions of ink, acrylic, and paper—what he calls the "absorption and adhesion of the medium"—thereby articulating the common structures of matter, phenomena, and perception.
