Wang Dongling will participate in CHINA 8, "the most comprehensive survey of contemporary Chinese art held in Germany to date." Taking place across 9 museums in 8 cities along the Rhine and Ruhr -- Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Hagen, Marl, Mülheim an der Ruhr, and Recklinghausen -- the exhibition will feature over 120 established and younger Chinese artists and encompass painting, photography, calligraphy, ink drawing, sculpture, installation art, and video. It will chart the key themes and visual languages that inspire and motivate these artists to address the question of whether there is such a thing as "Chinese art" at all.
Wang Dongling's works will be displayed in a special gallery in Kunstmuseum Gelsenkirchen. During the opening, he will give a public calligraphy performance.
