Innovation through dialogue with tradition is the central theme of Wang Tiande's artistic career. This exhibition serves as a comprehensive review of the artist's multimedia, multi-dimensional, and multi-perspective artistic practices and innovations over the past forty years. It also functions as a concentrated showcase of Wang Tiande's artistic creations and personal collections and stands as a tribute to his hometown of Shaoxing.
The exhibition is divided into seven sections: "Dialogue with History," "Dialogue with Time," "Transposed Moments," "Residual Ashes," "Dialogue with Oneself," "Eye of the Ancient City," and "Contours." It features a total of 67 works (or sets of works) created between 1998 and 2024, including painting, calligraphy, photography, video, installations, 3D printing, ready-mades, and collectibles. From the present, the artist looks back through the exhibits to forty years ago, four hundred years ago, and even thousands of years ago, engaging in a dialogue between personal spirit and traditional classics, and presenting the audience with a visual feast that melds ancient and contemporary elements.
